But other people will also have granted patents and what you want to do might fall within the scope of someone else’s patent, so they would have the right to stop you doing it – i.e. As a founder/early stage start-up, you will want to have a first look yourself at what publications and patents are already out there, to give you an idea as to whether your invention might be new and inventive – and also whether it looks like you have freedom-to-operate (FTO). ![]()
